My most recent project was for a baby shower in honor of my brand new great nephew Isaac who is due on... My Birthday! (she says proudly) I didn't go to the great lengths on this shower because it was the parents wishes to have a small intimate toned down shower so I'll just show you the sweet little banner that I made for the cake table sporting Isaac's name and a few of the safari animals that will be the new theme of his nursery at home. The parents were later able to take the banner home to hang in his room. The second picture I can't take credit for. My sister, who is also a craft diva made the palm tree out of a cardboard tube and an umbrella. I finished it off with a monkey and a vine. I think small and simple was just the ticket here and the party was a great success.

I am off work all week and I have a million projects in my head that I want to make and do, I want to make new pillows for my couch, I want to redecorate my daughter's bedroom, I want to repaint my bathroom, I could go on and on. The problem is I don't have the cash to to all of the things that my head tells me should be done. If I had a bottomless wallet I could probably give Martha Stewart a run for her money. I did manage to make a new sign for my front porch though. Another cricut project...with the help of a little duct tape! : )
I wanted to made more that one favor for the shower and as you know I didn't want to spend any money. So I decided that I wanted to make some bookmarks and at the same time bring everyones attention to the meaning behind the baby's name. Because I work in a doctors office I come home everyday with at least 10 paper clips in my scrub pockets. So I decided the easiest way to decorate them would be with a punch that I had in the shape of a flower. Easy squeeezie I punched out the flower, a regular hole puncher for the center, a little glue stick and ta-da! A handmade bookmark party favor. Next I typed up a little explanation of the meaning behind the baby's name and clipped the bookmark to the paper. The best part of the project was seeing mom and dad read the little note attached. It proved that spending a lot of money isn't what makes an event, it's the thought and love behind all the little details. Hope you enjoy this project.
